This study focuses on idioms formed as a result of true events that took place around the Dragor River, passing through the city of Bitola, once a province of the Ottoman Empire. The aim is to reveal the role of geography in the formation of idioms, using the example of a river in Macedonia. A secondary aim is to contribute to Turkish language by documenting idioms’ interesting formation stories and the characters of these stories. The study has review, translation, and analysis methods. However, the main method is translation. It is hoped that this study will lead and be useful for researchers who will make comparative studies between Turkish and Macedonian idioms.
