The concept dictionaries have been written in a period following the development of scientific disciplines. The concept dictionaries written in the field of usûl al-fıqh have also been taken place some periods after codified of Islamic jurisprudence. The conceptualization process, which began with the formation of the fiqh literature, has taken a new step with well-organized and independent works. The first work of concept dictionary in Uṣûl al-Fiqh which has survived the present day appeared in V./XI. and century. As far as we know, the first dictionary study on this field is Ibn Fûrak's al-Hudûd fi'l-uṣûl. Although this work includes notions of uṣûl al-fıqh as well as the concepts of theology, it is so important study because it is the first study that contains the concepts of uṣûl al-fıqh in a well-organized way. Also it is a significant study because it has pioneered the efforts of the concept dictionary in Uṣûl al-Fıqh and it has a great effect on them. It is also noteworthy in terms of determining the framework of the concepts of Uṣûl al-Fıqh. In this study, I will discuss the structure and content of al-Hududud fi'l-uṣûl which is the first work of concept dictionary in uṣûl al-Fiqh and its importance and effects on studies of concept dictionary in uṣûl al-fıqh.
