Adıyaman became a province in 1954 when it was a district of Malatya. After becoming a province Adiyaman developed in various areas. One of the best sources we can follow this development of Adıyaman is the local press in Adıyaman. Therefore, the examination of the newspapers published in Adıyaman will give an idea about the political, social, cultural and economic development of Adıyaman. This study covers the newspapers published in Adıyaman between 1950-1990. In the scope of the study, Adıyaman, Çağdaş, Demokrat Adıyaman, Fırat, Gölbaşı, Hakyol, Hür Fikir, Karaşahin, Yaman Ses, Yeni Demokrat Adıyaman, and Yeşil Adıyaman newspapers have been studied. The technical information of the newspapers was given and the relations with each other were examined and the difficulties faced by the local press in Adıyaman were discussed. The news content of the newspapers were analyzed and it was stated that they were mostly dealing with the topics. In addition, the relations of the newspapers with political parties and how these were reflected in the policies of the newspapers were examined.
