Purpose: In this research, it is aimed to examine the effect of academics' dark leadership perceptions on performance and job satisfaction. In addition, dark leadership perception, employee performance and job satisfaction levels of academicians were evaluated over the averages. Method: Quantitative research method was adopted since it was aimed to determine the relations between variables and their effect levels in the research. The population of the research consists of academicians working in the central campus of Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University. The sample consists of 259 people who were included in the research by simple random method. Data were collected through the survey technique. Dark leadership, employee performance and job satisfaction scales were given to the participants of the research to be answered. DFA, correlation, regression and frequency analyzes were performed with the measurement model on the data obtained in the study. SPSS 25 and IBM Amos 24 package programs were used in the analysis. Findings: According to the research findings It was found that the dark leadership, performance and job satisfaction averages of academicians were below 3 (undecided). According to the results of multiple regression analysis for testing the research hypotheses The insincere behaviors and tyrannous behaviors dimensions of dark leadership perception negatively affect employee performance. On the other hand, it has been observed that the dimensions of insincere, wearisome and tyrannous behaviors of dark leadership also affect job satisfaction negatively. According to these results, as the employees' dark leadership perceptions increase, their performance and job satisfaction decrease. Originality: In recent years, there has been a lot of research in the literature, which has been done by choosing one of the types of dark leadership. The aspect that distinguishes this study from other studies is that it has been studied with purely dark leadership, which covers all types of dark leadership. In addition, it is expected to contribute to both the literature and practitioners, since the studies examining these variables in the field of higher education are not sufficient.
