Abstract:

The study was planned to study the personal and general hygiene behaviors of individuals during the Covid-19 epidemic; 837 adults with different socio-demographic characteristics participated. The data of the research was collected through social media with the online survey form consisting of 27 materials developed by Flower, Shahin and Erkal (2020) and 6 sub-dimensions consisting of the COVID-19 Hygiene Scale and Personal Information Form. The study found that individuals' personal and general hygiene behaviors in the epidemic process were affected by sex, education and more budget allocation to cleaning materials during the epidemic period. by p<0.05 The high level of showing hygiene behavior has been found for women participants, individuals with pre-licensed and less educational levels, and those who indicate that they spend more budget on cleaning materials. However, personal and general hygiene behaviors have not been determined to be affected by the age, income level, civic status, the number of people with whom they live, the place where they live, the state of chronic illness, the impact of public spots on increased information, the state of living with individuals over the age of 65 and under the age of 20 and the presence of the individual who is diagnosed with Covid-19 in the family (p>0.05). When examined from the point of view of the subdimensions; the level of exposure of behaviors related to "hand hygiene"; the age, income level, the number of people living together, the place experienced, the state of having chronic illness, the public spot's impact on information increases is affected by the variables, the level of exposure of behaviors related to "home hygiene" is achieved to the result that the level of exposure of behaviors related to "home hygiene" is affected by the income level and the place experienced. The findings obtained were discussed with limited literature on the subject in the field, in recommendations.
