Öğretmenlerin büyük bir çoğunluğu kariyerlerine sınıfta devam etmeyi seçerken, bir kısmı sınıf ortamından ayrılarak başka kariyer seçeneklerini takip etmeyi isteyebilir. Aslında sınırlı denebilecek bu kariyer seçeneklerinden en başta geleni okul yöneticiliğidir. Her ne kadar okul yöneticiliğinde öğrencilerle olan etkileşim giderek azalsa da öğrenci başarısı ve gelişimi üzerindeki sorumluluk daha çok artmaktadır. Bu anlamda, okul yöneticiliği öğretmenlikten farklı becerileri gerektirmektedir. Kendisini bu konuda yeterli ve istekli hisseden öğretmenlerin yöneticiliğe yönelmesi normal karşılanmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, yöneticilik görevini kimlerin üstlendiği ve üstlenmesi gerektiği konusu eğitim yönetimi alanında önemli bir ilgiye sahiptir. Okul müdürlerinin büyük bir bölümü kariyerlerine öğretmen olarak başlamaktadır. Öğretmenlik deneyimi bir lider olarak karar verme becerilerini geliştirmede elbette önemli görülmektedir. Ancak, öğretmenler yönetici olduklarında eğitimini aldıkları öğretmenliği aşamalı olarak kenara bırakırlar ve çoğunun hazırlıklı olmadığı liderlik ve yönetim rolleri ağırlık kazanır. Birçok okul müdürü deneyim ve içgüdülerinin onlara kariyerleri boyunca rehberlik edeceğine inanmaktadır. Ancak bu bir yanılgıdır. Çünkü bu deneyim ve içgüdülerin bilimsel bir hazırlık süreciyle desteklenmesi gerekir. Okul yöneticilerinin görev ve sorumluluklarının genişlemesi ve yönetimin öğrenci başarısına olan etkisi göz önüne alındığında, bu role sistematik bir hazırlık sürecinden geçmiş nitelikli adayların getirilmesi hayati bir önem kazanmaktadır. Okul yöneticilerinin sahip oldukları yeterlilikler eğitimin kalitesini etkilemektedir.
Bu çalışmanın amacı okul yöneticilerinin yeterliliklerine ilişkin okul yönetcilerinin ve öğretmenlerin görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırma kapsamında Diyarbakır ili Bağlar ilçesinde MEB’e bağlı çalışan 8 müdür ve 10 öğretmen ile görüşme yapılmıştır.
While the vast majority of teachers choose to continue their career in classroom, some may want to follow other career options by leaving the classroom environment. In fact, the first of these career options that can be called limited is school management. While the interaction with students in the school management is increasingly reduced, the responsibility for student success and development is increasing. In this sense, school management requires different skills than teaching. It is normal that teachers who feel sufficient and willing about this are directed to the management. However, the topics who take on and should take on the management of the management role have a significant interest in the field of education. A large number of school managers start their career as teachers. Teaching experience is of course important in developing your decision-making skills as a leader. However, teachers gradually abandon their teaching when they are managers, and the leadership and management roles that most of them are not prepared gain weight. Many school managers believe their experience and instincts will guide them throughout their career. But that’s a mistake. Because these experiences and instincts must be supported by a scientific preparation process. Given the expansion of the tasks and responsibilities of school managers and the impact of management on student success, this role becomes vital for the introduction of qualified candidates through a systematic preparation process. The skills the school managers have influenced the quality of education.
The aim of this study is to study the views of school managers and teachers on the qualifications of school managers. In the framework of the research, 8 directors and 10 teachers who work with MEB in Diyarbakır or Bağlar district were interviewed.
While the vast majority of teachers choose to continue their careers in the classroom, some may wish to leave the classroom setting to pursue other career options. In fact, the foremost among these career options, which can be said to be limited, is school management. Although the interaction with students in school administration gradually decreases, the responsibility on student success and development is increasing. In this sense, school administration requires different skills from teaching. It is considered normal for teachers who feel competent and willing to turn to management. However, the issue of who undertakes and should undertake the task of management has an important interest in the field of educational administration. Most school principals start their careers as teachers. Of course, teaching experience is considered important in developing decision-making skills as a leader. However, when teachers become administrators, they gradually leave aside the teaching they have been trained for, and leadership and management roles, which most of them are not prepared for, gain weight. Many school principals believe that their experience and instincts will guide them throughout their careers. However, this is a mistake. Because these experiences and instincts need to be supported by a scientific preparation process. Considering the expansion of the duties and responsibilities of school administrators and the impact of administration on student success, it is vital to bring qualified candidates who have gone through a systematic preparation process to this role. The qualifications of school administrators affect the quality of education. The aim of this study is to examine the opinions of school administrators and teachers regarding the competencies of school administrators. Within the scope of the research, 8 principals and 10 teachers working under the Ministry of National Education were interviewed in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır province.
