Abstract:

This study focused on the research of what the views and expectations of students who have studied in different universities in the province of Kayseri in Turkey and who have received the training in interior design and furniture design are about the design training. In this context, the study aims to develop recommendations on how ideal interior design and furniture design training should be, and to contribute to design training by evaluating students’ opinions. These study data were analyzed using identificative statistical methods and used tables and graphics to present results. Some of the results of the study are as follows; students believe that the design courses should be carried out both in practical and theoretical content. In this training, they seek to teach both manufacturing materials and manufacturing methods and require that they have qualified production-related internships and content such as learning in place. Students also want to take courses containing artistic activities that will develop their design skills. They also expect these design courses they receive to include activities that will acquire a certain qualification against the situations they will encounter in the business life.
