Abstract During the international public health emergency stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected Brazil from March 2020, young children who attend early childhood education institutions in the country stayed at home. This article is divided into three sections and seeks to problematize issues related to early childhood and anti-racism, based on this exceptional situation. In the first section, we present brief considerations about the pandemic based on the observation of some official documents related to early childhood education .; in the second section, in defense of early childhood education that cannot be done at a distance, we present reflections on how this conception can collaborate to review the very understanding of early childhood education; finally, in the third section, we point out some actions that, if made everyday, collaborate with the anti-racist struggle that we must fight in our society to build a new world, which does not need to wait for the end of the pandemic.
