Hopelessness, which is expressed as expectations less than zero in achieving a goal, is a subject worth examining in terms of social work students and students' concerns about finding a job. In this research, it is aimed to determine the anxiety and hopelessness levels of the students of the social work department, to examine them according to various variables and to better understand the existing situation in this direction. 1592 social work students participated in the study, which was designed quantitatively. In the study, the basic demographic questionnaire, the questionnaire created by the researchers to learn the knowledge and attitudes of the participants about social work, and the Beck Hopelessness Scale were used. Research data were collected through social media tools through internet-based forms created by the researchers. As a result of the analysis of the data collected in the research, it was determined that the hopelessness levels of the participants differed significantly according to their anxiety about finding a job, attitudes and expectations about social work, and demographic characteristics. Findings underline that students' employment opportunities and future expectations are important in terms of hopelessness for the social work department. In addition, it is understood that during the social work education process, the attitudes of the students towards social work, expectations, anxiety about the future, hope of finding a job are effective on the level of hopelessness.
