Abstract:

Existentialism originates in the principle that existence is more significant than esence. The basis of this principle is based on human freedom. The man first sees the light of the day is free to bring into his essence. This freedom imposes responsibility on a human being. The individual has to reveal his own existence value. Behçet çelik is one of the important names of our recent epoch literature with his unique Works. The writer whose life started with short stories has four novels. In his Works, the writer with a plain expression describes the existential problems of modern-day underlying the commonality in general. While it is, in Soluk Bir An, focused on the story of Taner the protagonist whose existentialist questioning starts with his love for Esra who is his friend’s wife, in Dünyanın Uğultusu, the adventures of Ahmet who enters into existentialism process after being fired are narrated. This study aims to examine analyze, research the novels Dünyanın Uğultusu and Soluk Bir An within the context of existentialism firstly suggested by Martin Heidegger and adapted to literature by J.P. Sartre. It is tried to show the attempts of the individual who cannot create his own self making free liberal selections to find his own personality with existentialist questioning.
