The research has been carried out to define some factors affecting the life satisfaction of the elderly people. With official consent of the Kastamonu General Directorate of Family and Social Policies, the data is gathered by the researchers on November 1, 2013 through interviewing the elderly people residing at Kastamonu Nursing Home. The macrocosm of the study has been constituted by 100 elderly individuals staying at Kastamonu Central Nursing Home while the sampling of the study has been actualized by 50 elderly people having consented to take part in the research. The study covers individuals above the age of 65. The data has been gathered by the researchers with an inquiry form and the life satisfaction scale which prove to be determinative for the elderly people. The gathered data has been analyzed with SPSS programme (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 21.0. Definitive statistical methods (number, percentage, average, standard deviation) such as Mann-Whitney U Test and Kruskal-Wallis Test are used in the assessment of the data. Individuals with the illness of coronary artery, who are woman, lowly educated, prefer to be alone in the time of trouble and who have two children have been procured to have a lower level of life satisfaction. However, no significant difference has been observed (p>0.05). But in general, the level of life satisfaction of the elderly people who participated in the research has been assigned as (7,900 ± 4,024) on average
