Intertextuality expressed as a literary theory states that the author’s text is influenced by oral or written texts that emerged before or after him. This theory is demonstrated in the novel “The Life of Arseniev”. A. Bunin’s novel which won the Nobel Prize in literature has a great influence on Classical Russian Literature. The main character of the novel Arseniev used Classical Russian Literature as a tool to express himself. Authors mentioned in the novel contributed a lot to Arseniev's artistic development. Although a lot of works from Russian and World Literature were mentioned in the novel, the first five authors are from Classical Russian Literature who are analyzed in this research. These authors are: Pushkin, Tolstoy, Lermontov, Gogol and Turgenev.
