Bu çalışmada seçilmiş E7 ülkelerinde 1965-2019 döneminde hidroelektrik enerji tüketimi ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki nedensellik ilişkisi araştırılmıştır. Çalışmada Konya panel bootstrap nedensellik yönteminin yanı sıra yeni geliştirilen zamanla değişen bootstrap panel nedensellik testi kullanılmıştır. Bootstrap panel nedensellik yöntemine göre iki seri arasında herhangi bir nedensellik ilişkisine rastlanmamıştır. Zamanla değişen bootstrap panel nedensellik yöntemine göre ise belli başlı yıllarda değişkenler arasında nedensellik ilişkisi olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Bu sonuçlara bakıldığında Brezilya’da 1990-1991 Meksika’da 1986-1987, 1989, 1991 ve 1993 Endonezya’da 2011 ve 2013 dönemlerinde çift yönlü bir nedensellik ilişkisi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Yani bu yıllarda hidroelektrik enerjisi tüketimindeki artış ekonomik büyümeyi etkilerken, ekonomik büyümede yaşanan gelişmeler de hidroelektrik enerjisi tüketimini etkilemektedir. Diğer ülkelerde de belirli tarihlerde hidroelektrik tüketiminden ekonomik büyümeye ve ekonomik büyümeden hidroelektrik tüketimine doğru tek yönlü bir nedensellik ilişkisi olduğu gözlemlenmiştir.
This study examined the causal relationship between hydroelectric energy consumption and economic growth in the selected E7 countries in the period 1965-2019. In the study, the Konya panel bootstrap causality method was used as well as the newly developed bootstrap panel causality test that changed over time. According to the Bootstrap panel causality method, there was no causality relationship between the two series. By time changing bootstrap panel causality method, it has been observed that there is a causality relationship between the variables in certain main years. These findings have found that in Brazil 1990-1991; in Mexico 1986-1987, 1989, 1991 and 1993; in Indonesia in the periods 2011 and 2013 there was a bilateral causal relationship. That is, the increase in hydroelectric energy consumption in these years affects economic growth, while the developments in economic growth also affects hydroelectric energy consumption. In other countries, it has also been observed that in certain dates there is a one-way causal relationship from hydroelectric consumption to economic growth and from economic growth to hydroelectric consumption.
