Bu makale, ulus kimlikli modern Avrupa devletinin tarihsel sürecine ilişkin olarak İbn Haldun’un asabiyye ve umrân kavramları odağında ve Thomas Hobbes ve Michael Oakeshott’un değerlendirmeleri ışığında bir tartışma sunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Modern devletin kurumlarının coğrafya, iklim ve geçmiş tecrübelerden ne şekilde etkilendiği konusu incelenirken aynı zamanda bu yeni politik yapının modern ve Avrupalı oluşuna ilişkin de eleştirel bir bakış açısı getirilmektedir. Egemenlik ve kimlik kavramlarının ulus devlet ile ulaştığı yeni boyut ve yaşanılan tarihsel süreç analiz edilirken aynı zamanda devlete ilişkin teorik yaklaşımlar da tartışmaya dahil edilmektedir.
This article aims to present a discussion on the historic process of the modern European state with national identity, with the focus on Ibn Haldun’s concepts of the cabbage and the importance and in the light of the assessments of Thomas Hobbes and Michael Oakeshott. The subject of how the institutions of the modern state are influenced by geography, climate and past experiences is examined, and a critical view of the modern and European formation of this new political structure is also brought. The new dimension and the historical process that the concepts of sovereignty and identity reach with the national state are analysed while the theoretical approaches to the state are also included in the discussion.
