Abstract:

This research was carried out to examine the school counselors’ sense of self-efficacy regarding psychological counsultation and guidance in special education and their attitudes towards individuals with special needs. In the research the data were collected through an information form for demographic info, School Counselors’ Self-Efficacy Scale regarding Special Education and the Attitude toward Disabled Persons Scale. The collected data have been analyzed with the help of the software called IBM SPSS Statistics 26. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive analysis, correlation, independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance (one-way ANOVA), Kruskal Wallis H test and Mann Whitney U test. Results revealed that school counselors attitudes towards individuals with special needs close to negative attitude and their level of sense of self-efficacy regarding psychological counsultation and guidance in special education is moderate. One of the remarkable finding of the study is that there was a significant negative relationship between attitudes and self-efficacy. Also there were no significant differences between school counselors’ self-efficacy perceptions and attitudes with their gender, age, education level, year of job experience, school levels they work, participation in in-service training/seminar. The obtained findings were discussed in the light of the literature.
