Abstract:

Bu araştırmanın amacı üniversite öğrencilerinin psikolojik danışmadan beklentilerinin cinsiyete ve psikolojik yardım alma deneyimine göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını incelemek ve psikolojik yardım almaya ilişkin tutumları ile kişilik özelliklerinin psikolojik danışmadan beklentilerini ne derece yordadığını ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmada ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın katılımcıları 310 (181 kadın, 129 erkek) üniversite öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Bulgular, kadın üniversite öğrencilerinin kendini açma ve kabul beklentileri ile kolaylaştırıcılık beklentilerinin, erkek öğrencilerden anlamlı düzeyde yüksek olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Regresyon analizi sonuçları psikolojik yardım almaya ilişkin tutumun kendini açma ve kabul, kolaylaştırıcılık ve yönlendiricilik beklentisini yumuşak başlılığın ise kolaylaştırıcılık, destekleyicilik ve yönlendiricilik beklentisini pozitif yönde anlamlı olarak yordadığını göstermiştir.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to examine the college students’ expectations about counseling in terms of gender and prior help-seeking experiences and to investigate the role of attitudes toward seeking psychological help and personality traits in predicting college students’ expectations about counseling. The relational survey model was used in the study. The participants of the study were 310 (181 women, 129 men) undergraduate college students. The results of the study showed that female college students’ expectations of self-disclosure and acceptance and facilitative conditions were significantly higher than male’s. The results of Stepwise Multiple Regression Analyses indicated that attitude toward seeking psychological help was a predictor of expectations of selfdisclosure and acceptance, facilitative conditions and directiveness; and agreeableness was a predictor of expectations facilitative conditions, nurturance and directiveness.
