Abstract:

The theses carried out in Turkey in the field of special skills have a 30-year history. In this process, many theses have been published in different disciplines and subjects with different sampling groups, different research approaches. The thesis studies carried out in the field of special skills have increased with the increased interest in the field over time and the spread of the special skills training departments. This study aimed at studying the thesis studies conducted in the field of mathematical education of special skilled students between 1990-2021, creating resources for further studies with the determination of the general direction in Turkey. The study data consists of 65 doctoral and master thesis obtained from the National Thesis Center database of the Higher Education Council (YÖK). The obtained data has been studied in 5 basic dimensions, including the year of publication, the university, the research group, the research method and the research subject. The research method is used by research methods. The research data was analyzed by content analysis. According to the research results, a large majority of the theses carried out in relation to mathematical education of special skills were master theses and about half of the master theses were doctoral theses. It has been determined that most of the high school students are selected as sample, that there is a limited number of the theses performed with pre-school students and teachers, and that there are no theses performed with families, school managers and guidance services. The examined theses mostly use quantitative research method, while the mixed studies have been determined to be limited. One of the important findings of the research is that special skilled students are studying the technological size as a subject of research in the theses related to mathematical education in only two theses.
