Abstract:

Leadership quality is not an innate, but a value gained through education and experience. Leader communication is also a very critical process in order to make corporate communications that become more dynamic, more efficient and to perform risk management effectively. With these aspects, leader communication can be decisive for the future of companies, as we have seen in many examples in recent years. The current study aims to explore how authoritative and transactional leadership styles can fall short during crisis resolution processes. As case studies, the crises experiences by The Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and the United Airlines companies are explored. The exploration is not solely limited with the crisis process, but also includes examination of the efficiency of leadership styles embraced.
