Abstract:

This research is carried out with the aim of determining the relationship between school political tactics and school academic optimism levels of teachers. The research is in the relational scan model. The universe of research is formed by teachers of public schools located in the Turgutlu district of Manisa in the 2019-2020 educational year. The sample of the study is achieved by 433 teachers through easy-to-access sample. For the collection of research data, the "Political Tactics Scale" and "School Academic Optimism Scale" were used. In the analysis of the research data, t-Test, one-directional variance analysis (ANOVA) and Pearson Moments Collapse Correlation used multiple regression analysis techniques in the analysis. According to the research results, teachers think that the tactics of trying to love themselves in the school, creating the environment, managing the impression, and creating the coalition are on a medium level, while the tactics of information management, crime search, and increasing compulsion are on a low level. In the study, the perceptions of teachers about the realization of political tactics within the school vary according to the school level variable. Primary school teachers' perception of political tactics in school is low, compared to high school and high school teachers. According to the teachers’ gender, age, graduation, the number of teachers in the school they work and the time they work in the same school, the perceptions of the implementation of political tactics in the school are not different. The academic optimism of teachers is very high. Teachers' academic optimism levels do not differ according to their school level, gender, graduation status, and the number of teachers in the school. The levels of academic optimism vary according to the time and age of teachers in the same school. The perceptions of teachers about the realization of some political tactics in the school and their self-capacities have been identified in negative low and middle-level relationships. Again, there has been a positive-low-level relationship between the teachers’ perceptions of the realization of some political tactics in the school and the levels of confidence in their academic optimism. Finally, the study found that the perceptions of intrusion management and coalition creation from school political tactics significantly influenced school academic optimism.
