Akılcı Duygusal Davranışçı Yaklaşımına Dayalı Özgüven Geliştirme Programının 7. Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Özgüven Düzeylerine Etkisi

Abstract:

Amaç: Akılcı Duygusal Davranışçı Terapi Yaklaşımına Dayalı Özgüven Geliştirme Programının 7. sınıf öğrencilerinin özgüven düzeyi üzerine etkisinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda deney ve kontrol grubunda yer alan katılımcıların özgüven puanlarının anlamlı düzeyde değişip değişmediği incelenmiştir. Yöntem: Ön-test son-test ölçümlü deney ve kontrol gruplu deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın katılımcılarını, 8 deney ve 8 kontrol grubunda olmak üzere toplam 16 7. sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Altmış ila doksan dakikalık oturumlardan oluşan program, deney grubundaki katılımcılarla yedi hafta süreyle yürütülmüştür. Piers-Harris Öz Kavram ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırma sonucunda, programın deney grubundaki katılımcıların özgüven puanları üzerinde anlamlı düzeyde bir artış sağladığı bulunmuştur. Deney grubunda yer alan öğrencilerin ön test puan ortalamaları 46.62, son test puan ortalaması ise 53.87’dir. Man Whitney U testi sonuçlarına göre deney ve kontrol grubundaki öğrencilerin özgüven puanları arasında anlamlı farklılık olduğu görülmektedir. Wilcoxon testi analiz sonuçları, araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin Piers Harris ölçeğinden aldıkları deney öncesi ve sonrası puanları arasında son test puanı lehine anlamlı bir fark olduğunu göstermektedir. Sonuçlar ve Öneriler: Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular incelendiğinde Akılcı duygusal davranışçı terapiye dayalı özgüven geliştirme programının öğrencilerin özgüven düzeyini geliştirmede etkili olduğu görülmektedir. Bu sonuç doğrultusunda bu programın içeriği ebeveyn ve öğretmeni de içerecek şekilde genişletilebilir. Özgüven geliştirmeye yönelik hazırlanan program okul psikolojik danışmanları tarafından kullanılabilir. Yapılacak diğer çalışmalarda boylamsal çalışmalar gerçekleştirilebilir.

Purpose: The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of "Self-confidence Development Program Based on Rational Emotional Behavioral Therapy Approach" on self-confidence levels of seventh grade students. In the direction of purpose of study; it was examined whether the self-confidence points of the participants in the experimental and control groups changed significantly. Design & Methodology: An experimental design, with a treatment and no-treatment control group and two measurements (pretest and posttest) was used. Participants were sixteen seventh grade students as eight participants in each group. The experiment group participants attended 60-90 minutes treatment session, for the duration of seven weeks. Piers-Harris Self Concept scale was used in this study. Findings: According to results, the treatment was effective in increasing treatment group subjects' self-confidence scores. Mean of self-confidence pre-test score of treatment group is 46.62, post-test score is 53.87. According to Mann Whitney U test, there is a significant difference between self-confidence scores of treatment and non-treatment control group. Wilcoxon test results showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the Piers Harris scale in favor of the post-test scores. Implications & Suggestions: When the findings obtained from the research are examined, it is seen that the self-confidence program based on rational emotional behavioral therapy is effective in improving students' self-confidence level. In line with this result, content of self-confidence program could include parent and teacher. Also this program which aims to develop self-confidence can be used by school counselors. Longitudinal research should have been done in future research.
