Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the ten root values of the children's novel "House on the coast of Bataklık" by Yeşim Saygın Armutak in the 2019 Turkish lesson teaching program "love, justice, responsibility, patience, friendship, honesty, respect, helpfulness, self-control, patriotism". The study is of great importance in terms of root values as it is the first study that studies the work "House on the coast of the bedroom". In this study, which adopted the quality research method, the "document analysis" technique was used as a data collection tool. The data collection source of the study is the 168-page children's novel "House on the coast of the bed" from Yeşim Saygın Armutak's Daily Library Publishing in 2007. In the analysis phase of the obtained data, the values in the novel were classified using the visual scan model and content analysis and determined how often these values were used. The study found that the children's novel "House on the Coast of the Bath" contained a total of eight different values. Of these, patience (8), compassion (8), love (7), are the most processed values in the novel. These values followed the values of friendship (3), honesty (3), self-control (3), respect (1) and responsibility (1). The values of justice and patriotism were not found in the novel. According to the result, eight of the ten root values included in the Turkish Teaching Program in the novel were significantly processed. It is therefore believed that the novel can be used as a useful educational material in the transmission of root values.
