Abstract:

The aim of this study is to investigate the knowledge and awareness levels of teacher candidates' decision-making styles about child abuse and neglect and the relationship between these two variables. The collected data was analyzed according to independent samples t-Test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation and Multiple Linear Regression analysis methods. As a result of the research; It has been determined that there is a meaningful difference in favor of women in the level of knowledge and risk recognition of teacher candidates regarding child abuse and neglect, and male teacher candidates have more rational, intuitive and avoidance styles than women in terms of decision-making styles. A positive and significant relationship has been found between the pre-service teachers' rational decision-making, intuitive and dependent decision-making styles, and their knowledge and risk carrying levels on Child Abuse and Neglect. In addition, as a result of the research, it was found that pre-service teachers who have rational decision-making style explained 13% of the change in the level of knowledge and risk recognition regarding child abuse and neglect. In line with the results obtained, it is recommended to determine the principles that will facilitate the detection of abuse and enable rational decision making.
