Aile ve Çevrenin Okul Disiplinine Etkisine İlişkin Öğrenci, Öğretmen ve Okul Yöneticisi Görüşleri

Abstract:

Bu çalışmada bir ortaöğretim okulundaki öğrenciler, öğretmenler ve okul yöneticilerinin görüşleri doğrultusunda başat bir role sahip okul disiplininin aile ve okul çevresi ile ilişkisi araştırılmıştır. Araştırma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan örnek olay çalışmasıdır. Çalışma grubunu 2014-2015 eğitim-öğretim yılında Ankara ili, merkez ilçesinde bulunan bir ortaöğretim okulundaki 20 öğrenci, 20 branş öğretmeni, 4 rehber öğretmen ve 5 okul yöneticisi oluşturmaktadır. Katılımcıların seçiminde amaçlı örnekleme tekniğine yer verilmiştir. Araştırma verilerinin toplanmasında yarı-yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ve verilerinin analizinde içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri, tema ve alt temalar halinde kodlanmış ve bulgular frekanslarıyla birlikte tablolar halinde sunulmuştur. Araştırmanın sonucunda öğrenciler, öğretmenler ve okul yöneticileri okul disiplininin aile ve okul çevresiyle güçlü bir ilişkiye sahip olduğunu belirtmiştir. Katılımcılar okul disiplininin aile ile okul çevresi arasındaki ilişkisinde sosyo-ekonomik ve kültürel yapının etkisini vurgulamıştır. Öğretmenler ve okul yöneticileri eğitim ve sosyo-ekonomik seviyesi düşük ailelerde yetişen öğrencilerin disiplinsiz tutum ve davranışlara daha yatkın olduklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Velilerin okul disiplininden beklentisi öğrencilerin okulda geçirilen zaman içerisinde istenmeyen davranışlara yönelmemeleridir. Okulun çevresi ve ailenin okuldaki disiplin uygulamalarını pekiştirdiği ve yönlendirdiği görülmüştür.

The Views Of Students, Teachers and School Administrators On The Impact Of Family and School Environment On School Discipline

Abstract:

The present study aims to investigate the correlation between school discipline, which plays a key role in education, and the family and school environment based on the views of students, teachers and school administrators in secondary education institution. The study was conducted with the case study design, a qualitative research method. The study group included 20 students, 20 branch teachers, 4 school counselors and 5 administrators in a secondary education institution in the central district of Ankara during the 2014-2015 academic year. Purposive sampling method was employed in the assignment of the participants. A semi-structured interview form was used to collect the study data and the data were analyzed with the content analysis method. The study data were coded to determine the themes and sub-themes, and the findings are presented in tables including frequencies. The participating students, teachers and school administrators stated that there was a significant correlation between the school discipline and the family and school environment. Participants emphasized the impact of socio-economic and cultural attributes on the correlation between school discipline and family and school environment. Teachers and school administrators stated that students who were raised in families with low educational and socio-economic level were more susceptible to undisciplined attitudes and behavior. The parents expect from the school discipline to prevent the students to adopt undesirable behavior at school. It was observed that the school and the family environment helped reinforce and determine the disciplinary practices at school.
