Abstract:

This study aims to investigate the concepts that teachers of science have about the nature of science using a word-related test. The study was carried out with 34 science knowledge teachers from different provinces of Turkey who participated in the project during the TÜBİTAK 2229 workshop. The data of the study was collected using the Word Relationship Test (KIT). Keywords in KIT are science, scientist, scientific knowledge, scientific method, nature of science, theory, law, experiment, observation, proof, technology and creativity. A frequency table is created according to the response words that teachers produce for each key concept. The concepts developed depending on the frequency table have been used by the cutting point technique in the networks. The study found that the knowledge of science teachers’ concepts about the nature of science spread to a wide range, but that teachers have difficulty interacting between these concepts.
