Matematik Öğretmeni Adaylarının Mesleki Bilgilerinin Gelişimleri ile İlgili Farkındalıklarının İncelenmesi: Öğretmenlik Uygulaması Örneği

Abstract:

Bu çalışmada, ilköğretim matematik öğretmeni adaylarının mesleki bilgilerinin gelişimleri ile ilgili farkındalıklarının öğretmenlik uygulaması dersi kapsamında incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu kapsamda çalışmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışması yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın katılımcılarını, Türkiye’de bir devlet üniversitesinin İlköğretim Matematik Öğretmenliği bölümünün dördüncü sınıfında öğrenim gören sekiz öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmanın verileri, öğretmenlik uygulaması dersi kapsamında gözlem ve öz-değerlendirme formu ile toplanmıştır. Gözlemler, öğretmen adaylarının öz-değerlendirme ile ilgili açıklamalarını teyit etmek amacıyla kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz tekniği ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmanın bulguları, öz-değerlendirme formundaki maddeler doğrultusunda kodlanmış ve öğretmen adaylarının yaptıkları açıklamalardan doğrudan alıntılara yer verilerek ayrıntılı bir şekilde tasvir edilmiştir. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgular ışığında, öğretmen adaylarının, öğretmenlik uygulaması dersi kapsamında mesleki gelişimlerinin çoğunlukla farkında oldukları ancak bu gelişimlerinin yeterli düzeyde olmadığının farkında olmadıkları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Review of the knowledge related to the development of professional knowledge of mathematics teachers candidates: Example of teaching application

Abstract:

In this study, it is intended to study the awareness of the development of the professional knowledge of the candidates for primary mathematics teachers within the teaching practice course. In this context, the method of study of the quality research patterns has been used. The participants of the study are composed of eight teachers candidates who study in the fourth class of the Primary Mathematics Teaching Department of a state university in Turkey. The data of the study was collected through the observation and self-evaluation form in the course of teaching application. The observations were used to confirm the explanations of the teacher candidates regarding self-evaluation. The data obtained was analyzed using the visual analysis technique. The findings of the study are coded according to the materials in the self-evaluation form and described in detail by placing the quotes directly from the explanations of the teacher candidates. In light of the findings obtained from the study, the teacher candidates have come to the conclusion that they are mostly aware of their professional developments within the teaching practice course but are not aware that they are not at a sufficient level.

The aim of this study was to examine the awareness of elementary prospective mathematics teachers’ about the development of their professional knowledge within the scope of through teaching practicum. On this basis, we followed case study research design based on qualitative research paradigm. The participants were eight senior elementary prospective mathematics teachers studying at a state university in Turkey. In the data collection process, within the scope of the teaching practicum, self-evaluation form and observations were used. Observations were used to confirm the prospective teachers' statements about self-evaluation. The data obtained were analysed via descriptive analysis technique. The findings of the study were coded in line with the items in the self-evaluation form and were delineated in detail by including direct quotations from the statements made by prospective teachers. The findings suggest that obtained from the study, it was concluded that mostly prospective teachers were aware of their professional development within the scope of teaching practice course, but they were unawareness that these developments were insufficient
