Bu çalışmanın amacı MIST (Meksika, Endonezya, Güney Kore ve Türkiye) ülkelerinde yatırımcı duyarlılığını temsil eden tüketici güven endekslerinin sermaye piyasaları ile ilişkisini ve bu ilişkinin yönünü incelemektir. Çalışmada 2010 Haziran – 2020 Şubat dönemi ele alınmıştır. Eş bütünleşme testi ile, MIST ülkelerinde tüketici güven endeksleri ile ülkelerin gösterge borsa endeksleri ve 10 yıllık gösterge tahvil faiz oranları arasında eş bütünleşme ilişkisinin olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen bu bulgu, MIST ülkelerinde tüketici güven endeksi ve sermaye piyasalarının uzun dönemde birlikte hareket ettiğini göstermektedir. Değişkenler arasındaki kısa dönemli ilişki araştırıldığında ise Endonezya ve Türkiye’de tüketici güveni ve sermaye piyasaları arasında anlamlı kısa dönemli ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Nedensellik analizi ise bu ilişkilerin yönünün Endonezya ve Türkiye’de tüketici güven endeksinden 10 yıllık tahvil faiz oranlarına Meksika ve Endonezya’da tüketici güven endeksinden borsa endeksine Güney Kore’de ise tüketici güven endeksinden borsa endeksine ve borsa endeksinden tüketici güven endeksine doğru olduğu belirlenmiştir. Yükselen ekonomiler arasında gruplandırılan MIST ülkelerinde tüketici güveninin sermaye piyasalarını etkilediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship of consumer confidence indices representing investor sentiment with capital markets and the direction of this relationship in MIST (Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea and Turkey) countries. The period of 2010 June – 2020 February was considered. It has been concluded that there is a cointegration relationship between consumer confidence indices, indicator stock market indexes of countries and 10-year indicator bond interest rates in MIST countries with cointegration test. This finding shows that consumer confidence index and capital markets move together in the long run in MIST countries. When the short-term relationship between the variables is investigated, a significant short-term relationship is found between consumer confidence and capital markets in Indonesia and Turkey. The causality analysis indicates that the direction of these relations is from the consumer confidence index to the 10-year bond interest rates in Indonesia and Turkey; from consumer confidence index to stock market index in Mexico and Indonesia; In South Korea, it has been determined that the consumer confidence index is from the stock market index and from the stock market index to the consumer confidence index. It has been concluded that consumer confidence affects capital markets in MIST countries grouped among emerging economies.
