Duygusal zeka kişinin bütün hayatını etkileyen olmazsa olmazlardan biridir. Duygusal zeka son yıllarda özellikle iş yaşamında önemli görülmektedir. Bu nedenle günümüz gençlerinin duygusal zekalarının yüksek olması toplumun refahı üzerinde çok önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı üniversite öğrencilerinin duygusal zeka düzeylerinin belirlenmesidir. Bu amaçla duygusal zeka düzeylerinin demografik faktörlere göre değişiklik gösterip göstermediği araştırılmıştır. Araştırma grubu 190 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır (%76,8 kadın, %23,2 erkek). Veriler anket yöntemiyle toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde Kruskal Wallis Testi ve Mann Whitney U testi kullanılmıştır. Duygusal zeka düzeyi; duygularını kontrol etme, duygularının farkında olma, kendini motive etme, empati ve sosyal beceri alt ölçekleriyle ölçülmüştür. Duygularının farkında olma, duygularını kontrol etme, kendini motive etme, empati ve sosyal beceri alt ölçeklerinden alınan toplam puan ortalamaları arasında ailenin gelir düzeyine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark saptanmıştır.
Emotional intelligence is one of those that does not affect the whole life of a person. Emotional intelligence has been considered important in recent years especially in the business life. Therefore, the high emotional intelligence of today’s young people plays a very important role in the well-being of society. The aim of this study is to determine the level of emotional intelligence of university students. For this purpose, it has been studied whether the levels of emotional intelligence are varied according to demographic factors. The research group consists of 190 students (76.8 percent women and 23.2 percent men). The data is collected by the method of survey. The analysis of the data used the Kruskal Wallis Test and the Mann Whitney U Test. The level of emotional intelligence is measured by the low scales of control of their emotions, awareness of their emotions, self-motivation, empathy and social skills. A statistically meaningful difference has been found between the total scores of awareness of their emotions, control of their emotions, self-motivation, empathy and social skills from the lower scales according to the income level of the family.
