Kur’ân’da geçen kelimelerin tahlil edilip anlamlarının belirlenmesi, onun manasının anlaşılması için ilk basamak sayılır. Kur’ân kelimelerini anlama çabası erken dönemde başlamıştır. Sahabe söz konusu kelimeleri anlama çabası içinde olduğu gibi, erken dönem müfessirler de bu hususta önemli çalışmalar yapmışlardır. Bir müfessir olarak Taberî (ö.310/922) de, tefsir eserinde kelime ve kavram analizlerine çokça yer vermiştir. Bu makalede erken dönem klasik tefsir âlimlerinden olan Taberî’nin kelime tahlili yaparken kullandığı metot ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır
