Abstract:

The family, as the cornerstone of society, has passed many tests throughout history. There has always been a need for an institution to guide families. Family counseling was also introduced in the 20th century as an institution that guides families. With the epidemic known as Covid-19, which emerged in China at 2019; Along with health, education and economy, families have also been affected by this process. The processes and phenomena such as the distance education process, economic difficulties, the shift of social life to home, the increase in the anxiety rate in individuals have completely affected families. In this context, the aim of this study is to determine the effects of the Covid-19 process and family counseling services on family life. As a research method, a qualitative research was carried out with a semi-structured interview. The collected data were analyzed by the Maxqda program. As a result of the research, it was seen that families faced some negativities during Covid-19 period. In line with the opinions of the participants, it was concluded that the family counseling support received during this period had positive results. It is clear that providing family counseling support, which has such an essential function for families and is offered only by private clinics in our country, in public institutions and more widely will have a protective and strengthening effect on the family.
