Abstract:

Purpose: As known, increase in added value and productivity in agriculture in a region increases the agricultural production and income level. Considering that with Turkey's productive farmland, the work to be done in this area is expected to contribute to the country's prosperity. The main purpose of this study is to test the relationship between per capita GDP and agricultural production using econometric methods for the 2009-2017 period in NUTS-2 Regions in Turkey. Methodology: In this study, Panel Data (Pooled Least Squares, Fixed Effects and Random Effects) methods are used to test the relationship between agricultural production and GDP per capita. Findings: In Level-2 Regions, GDP per capita increases as agricultural production value, electricity consumption and education level increase in the period of 2009-2017. Originality: Due to the limited number of studies testing the agricultural production-income relationship using Panel Data Method in Nuts-2 regions, this study is thought to contribute to the relevant literature.
