Abstract:

Istanbul is a mega city that has had geopolitical and geostrategic importance throughout history. The fact that the three great empires have become the capital in history, the fact that it serves as a bridge between the continents of Asia and Europe, and the center of the silk and spices, is one of the most clear indicators of how important it is a city. With globalization and the abolition of international trade boundaries, increased commercial activities in strategically important cities and the use of these cities as logistics centers are of great importance for the development and sustainability of the logistics sector. Istanbul is a city that has played an active role as a logistics center for both military and commercial purposes. Today, thanks to Istanbul’s strategic importance, it has received large investments and hosts mega projects in the framework of public private cooperation. The Canal Istanbul Waterway project, which is the largest of the mega projects for Istanbul, will provide the city with an artificial throat. In this study, a broad literary survey of logistics centers, mega projects and Channel Istanbul was carried out. Publicated books, magazines, articles, reports, websites, published theses and some research results have been obtained. These studies and data have been evaluated to be used in our study. As a result, an integrated logistics center model proposal was submitted to the Channel Istanbul project.
