Abstract:

The Media Reading Center (CML), established in the United States since the year, aims to compare web pages in terms of content. The data of the research carried out by adopting the quality research approach has been obtained through the document review. When the research results are evaluated in general, the CML website shows that the different sections of society, such as teachers, students, family and child care, are based on the five basic principles of the media, a total of 25 main and 28 sub-applications; on the other hand, the RTÜK Media Reading website includes 9 main and 18 sub-applications targeting adults, teachers, students and media staff. The CML web page has included many printed, visual, visual-hearing sources for an effective media education, e-service applications, CML dedicated curriculum and links to activities suitable for all levels, recommended approach and curriculum-related consulting services. On the website of RTÜK Media Reading is a link to a limited number of sources for the purpose of awareness of the parents, to the e-school system, to the teaching books, to the effective use of the media handbook, to the project sending option, to the teaching books for students, to the handbooks and to the games; to the media staff, to the workshops, to the symposium, to the congress, to the meeting information. These findings reveal that the CML website is a more professional site that involves more comprehensive, content-rich and practical activities for media education compared to the RTÜK Media Reading website.
