Abstract:

Dictionaries are more than lists of words, they are the lexical treasures of a language. Because of their purpose of preparation and use, they are located in a different area than other books. Kurds are especially in this area 20. after a century, they have done serious work. Many of these dictionaries have been prepared with altruistic feelings and amateurish methods. This study will focus on two sub-discipline of linguistics for Kurdish, especially Kirmancki (Zazaki) dictionaries. The first of these is lexicography, which sets general rules for preparing a dictionary. The second is metalexicography, which performs critical work on dictionaries from different aspects and evaluates them. According to the limits of this study, first, the beginning of dictionary studies in the world and Kurds will be mentioned. Then we will focus on Kirmancki (Zazaki) dictionaries according to these two sub-discipline. At the end, a bibliography of Kirmancki (Zazaki) dictionaries published until this year (2020) will be given.
