Abstract:

Born in Cyprus in 1931, Ahmet Gazioğlu worked as a teacher between 1954 and 1962, and was known for his articles in the newspapers on the Cyprus issue. In 1975, Ahmet Gazioğlu published his 260-page novel Love and War in Cyprus which reflected the Cyprus Peace Operation with a realistic perspective. The author evaluated objectively the events in the mentioned years from a historian viewpoint and presented them to the reader in the atmosphere of a novel. In the Love and War novel in Cyprus, Gazioğlu discusses the pressure of the Greeks and Cypriot Greeks on the island and the existence of the Turkish Cypriot struggle on the island, as well as telling the love of a young Turkish doctor. In this paper, the Cypriot Turkish Peace Operation conducted by motherland Turkey in 1974 and its reflection in the mentioned novel were evaluated. The motives of Cypriot Turkish Peace Operation reflected in the novel will be identified and the conditions under which Turkish existence in the island and Cypriot Turkish identity were secured in those years will be displayed.
