Abstract:

This study aims to evaluate the Star House, one of the most original and spectacular historical houses in Bafra, by introducing it into the context of art and architecture history. The location of the documented structure within the traditional Bafra houses, the location in the Ottoman housing architecture has been assessed in detail. The ground firm store, the top floors are designed and built as an independent housing, the three-storey Star House is located in the central Gazipaşa district. Thro the time, the structure built by a family of Rum is partially small-dimensional damage, but it greatly preserves its original appearance and architectural integrity. The manufacturing system and decoration features indicate that the structure could be built between the 1880s and 1910. The housing, which reflects the architectural characteristics of the time it was built, is one of the most original and spectacular houses in Bafra. The Star House is the most common type seen in the traditional Bafra houses, a structure with a cave accumulation system. The Star House, made in a corner parcel in the shape of a square shape and opened on two sides to the street, has a symmetrical and balanced front layout with interesting decorative details that awaken aesthetic pleasure in the street perspective context. The building is one of the Bafra houses where the interior sofa order, which dominates the vast majority of the traditional Turkish houses after the 19th century, is overwhelmed. The placement of the plan units on a parcel in the shape of a square square, the structure is extremely successful in terms of interspace transition/relationship, function and connection with fronts. The front design of the Star House, the shaping language of the front elements, the stone and steep bubble spots on the fronts, the Western New Classic and Turkish Ampire, which shaped the many structures of the period, have the shaping effects. In the context of the traditional Bafra houses, the Star House is one of the most notable examples in terms of the variety of kinds of front elements and the intensity of decorative elements.
