Yeni ilköğretim programında, Fen ve Teknoloji dersinin teknoloji boyutuna büyük önem verilmiş, ayrıca dersin içeriği etkinlikler ve deneylerle zenginleştirilmiştir. Dersin işlenişinde öğrenme ve öğretme sürecinde mümkün olduğu kadar bilgi ve iletişim teknolojilerinden faydalanılması gerektiği vurgulanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, öğretmenlerin Fen ve Teknoloji derslerinde öğretim teknolojilerini kullanma durumlarını ortaya çıkarmaktır. Araştırmaya, 14 değişik il merkezindeki 70 ilköğretim okulunda görev yapan 429 sınıf öğretmeni (212 tane 4. sınıf ve 217 tane 5. sınıf) katılmıştır. Araştırmada veriler, açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan bir soru formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Nitel verilerin içerik analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları, öğretmenlerin büyük çoğunluğunun derslerinde bilgisayar ve ilişkili uygulamaları yeterince kullanamadıklarını ancak görsel işitsel ve sunum araçlarını kullandıklarını göstermiştir.
In the new primary education curriculum, technology aspect of courses were attached importance, also content of courses were enriched with activities and experiments. Need of using information and communication technology as possible as is emphasized during teaching and learning process. The purpose of this study is to exhibit teachers’ usage of instructional technology in Science and Technolgy courses. 429 classroom teachers (212 of them 4th grade and 217 of them 5th grade) joined in the study at seventy elementary schools in fourteen different provinces. The data in the study were gathered by using a questionnaire which consists of open ended questions. The data was analyzed according to content analysis. According to the findings most of the teachers do not often use computer and computer software implementations, however; they usually use multimedia tools.
