Abstract:

This research, which analyses the knowledge levels of school administrators about strategic management tools, methods and techniques and their perceptions of strategic management, is a descriptive study in survey design. The research sample consists of 125 school principals and assistant principals working in public schools in İskenderun district of Hatay province. The data were collected online through the "Strategic Management Perception Scale in Administrators" developed by Kayar Çelik (2019). As the data showed a normal distribution, parametric test methods were preferred in the study. According to the findings of the research conducted to determine the level of knowledge of school administrators about strategic management tools, methods and techniques and their perceptions of strategic management, school administrators’ knowledge about strategic management tools, methods and techniques are listed as risk analysis, situation analysis, strategic plan, cost-benefit analysis, strategic awareness, outsourcing, swot (gzft) analysis, value chain analysis and scenario analysis from the highest to the lowest level; their level of knowledge about strategic management tools, methods and techniques is at a high level; school administrators’ perceptions of strategic management are at a "high" level both in the overall scale and in resources and sub-dimensions; there is no statistically significant difference in the level of knowledge of strategic management tools, methods and techniques and perceptions of strategic management according to the variables of gender, educational status, age, seniority and the level of education at which they work, but there is a statistically significant difference in favour of principals in strategic plan, situation analysis, swot (gzft) analysis and cost-benefit analysis among strategic management tools, methods and techniques according to the title variable.
