Караван-сарай, одна из первых структур турецкой архитектуры для остановки на ночлег торговцев-путников, которые строились на маршруте для караванов. Гостиницами называли небольшие караван-сараи. Благодаря этим строениям была решена проблема перевозки разных видов товаров в разные регионы, для Анатолии которая соединяла между собой континенты. После того как были построены различные виды сооружений караван-сараев и гостиниц, воздвигнутые в различные времена в столице Стамбул и различных городах Анатолии, переход к западному типу гостеприимства и сооружений жилых комплексов для ночлега происходил на протяжении долгого времени. Изменение социальной структуры оказало эффективное влияние на архитектурное формирование и проявилось в появлении и развитии многоэтажных каменных жилых помещений, что сказалось как на архитектуре, так и на расположении жилых структур караван-сараев и гостиниц. Сегодня мы являемся свидетелями того как упорно ведутся работы по восстановлению исторических гостиниц и караван-сараев в Анатолии и Стамбуле. Эта статья была написана с целью подчеркнуть ценность размещения и гостеприимства того времени, которые оставили свой след как в историческом, так и в социологическом периодах. Так же на ряду с другими примерами различными академиками, было предложено изучить в этом контексте исследование Великого Лондонского Отеля (Great London Hotel).
According to historical research, caravanserais and inns were the first accommodation buildings in Turkish architecture. These buildings were built on the trade roads, like Silk Road. Caravanserais and inns were generally located in Anatolia, while some of them were built near Istanbul. Influences from Europe, affected the whole living style since the 18th century, when modern hotel buildings were started to be built, in Istanbul. The first modern hotels in Istanbul were built at 1840 in Pera, Beyoglu. Later on many of them were constructed at Sisli, Ferikoy, Eminonu, Kadikoy, Boshporus and Prince Islands. Accommodation buildings appear on the beginning of the 19th century and develop to the 20th century in the Ottoman Empire. Life style and rules in state and social life were affected from European countries. During this period, according to the new life styles accommodation buildings took their planning and facade shapes. If it is thought that, once caravanserais and inns were popular in this geography, this was a new type in architecture, in Istanbul.
