Abstract:

Poetry, which is the most effective means of expressing emotions, has been influential in the development of children in every period. This is why the Ministry of National Education has the ability to write poems within the Turkish teaching programmes. While students are concerned with reading poems, they often do not show the same attitude towards writing poems. The purpose of the study is to determine the impact of poems written using the "Coffee Table Application" on the poem writing attitudes of high school students. The method of study is semi-experimental. For the study work group, 60 students who studied in a secondary school in the province of Kütahya were identified in the 2016-2017 educational year. Students in 8-E and 8-C classes form the control group, and students studying in 8-A and 8-D classes, the experiment group. Poetry writing attitude scale and poetry writing degree score key have been developed and used as data collection tools. At the application stage, students in the experiment group were asked to write poems with the "Coffee Table Application". Students in the control group were asked to write poems in accordance with the achievements of the Ministry of National Education in the Turkish Teaching Program. As a method, it was also used in the Turkish curriculum "Writing Poetry by Movement from Hearing". The data is analyzed through a statistical program. The study found that there was a significant difference in the benefit of the students in the experiment group between the poems they wrote using the "Coffee Table Application" and the poems they wrote in the control group by the classical methods of the students. The poems written with the "Coffee Table Application" also won many degrees in the competitions held at the provincial level.
