Abstract:

Since the beginning of the 90s thanks to the expanding Internet usage in Turkey and all around the world, media and communication tools usage have begun to show the differences. Institutions and organizations have started to closely follow these developments in information and communication technologies and to develop strategies in line with their target audiences. This study set out to examine the content of the posts shared on the social media accounts of state and foundation universities in Turkey. The research was carried out using the document analysis method in the qualitative research paradigm. The study sample consists of 4 state and 4 foundation universities determined by passing the target universe through a two-stage elimination system. The social posts of the shared between November 2018 and February 2019 in Universities were analyzed using content analysis method. Account information of universities on social media platforms,; the types of the materials, the content of the posts shared on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and video views, comments and likes of Youtube and Instagram accounts were examined. After the examination, the analysis findings related to each sub-problem were summarized using descriptive statistics.
