Bu araştırmanın amacı, K-12 becerilerinden biri olan fen bilimleri alan becerileri ve okuryazarlık becerilerinin kesiştiği, çevre ve iklim okuryazarlığı becerilerini erken dönemde çocuklara kazandırmaktır. Bu bağlamda okul öncesi dönemde 60-72 aylık çocukların sürdürülebilir çevre eğitim programı almalarının çevresel farkındalıkları üzerinde bir etkisi olup olmadığı test edilmiştir. Sürdürülebilir Çevre Eğitimi Programının (SÇEP) 60-72 aylık çocukların çevreye yönelik tutum ve farkındalıklarına etkisi, ön test-son test kontrol gruplu deneysel desen kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Araştırmada amaçlı örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmış ve deney ve kontrol gruplarının benzer kültürel özelliklere sahip olmasına dikkat edilmiştir. Çalışma grubu olarak, Sivas il merkezinde bulunan bir ilkokula bağlı iki ana sınıfı seçilmiştir. Bir sınıf deney grubu, diğeri ise kontrol grubu olarak belirlenmiştir. Toplam 48 çocuk (24 deney grubu, 24 kontrol grubu) çalışma grubunu oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen Genel Bilgi Formu ve Soydan ve Samur (2013) tarafından geliştirilen "Okul Öncesi Çocukları için Çevre Farkındalığı ve Tutum Ölçeği" (OÖÇFTÖ) kullanılmıştır. Eğitim programı, 8 hafta boyunca deney grubuna uygulanmıştır. Eğitim programının kalıcılığını test etmek amacıyla, program tamamlandıktan dört hafta sonra deney grubundaki çocuklara tekrar " OÖÇFTÖ" uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar, "SÇEP" programının çocukların çevreye yönelik tutum ve farkındalıklarını olumlu yönde etkilediğini ve bu etkinin kalıcı olduğunu göstermektedir.
The aim of this study is to develop environmental and climate literacy skills in children at an early age by intersecting science and literacy skills, which are one of the K-12 skills. In this context, the effect of a sustainable environmental education program (SEEP) on the environmental awareness and attitudes of 60-72 month-old children was tested. An experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was used to examine the effect of the SEEP on the environmental attitudes and awareness of the children. Purposive sampling was used, and care was taken to ensure that the experimental and control groups had similar cultural characteristics. Two kindergarten classes affiliated with a primary school in the center of Sivas were selected as the study group. One class was designated as the experimental group and the other as the control group. The study group consisted of a total of 48 children (24 in the experimental group and 24 in the control group). The "General Information Form" developed by the researcher and the "Environmental Awareness and Attitude Scale for Preschool Children" (EAASPC) developed by Soydan and Samur (2013) were used as data collection tools. The education program was applied to the experimental group for 8 weeks. To test the permanence of the program, the "EAASPC " was administered again to the children in the experimental group four weeks after the program was completed. The results show that the SEEP positively affected the environmental attitudes and awareness of the children and that this effect was permanent.
