Abstract:

The aim of the study is to examine whether there is a significant difference between the family relationship sub-dimensions and social skills sub-dimensions of secondary school students according to gender, school type, grade level, parental relationship status and family structure, and whether there is a significant relationship between family relations and social skills and to determine the level of prediction of family relationships on social skills score. For this purpose, 840 secondary school students were administered the Family Relationship Scale for Children (CAİÖ), Matson (MESSY) Social Skill Rating Scale and Personal Information Form. The research was carried out according to the relational screening model. T-Test for Independent Means, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Post Hoc Test, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Analysis, Multiple Linear Regression Analysis were used for analysis. As a result of the research; In the sub-dimensions of family relations, significant differences were observed in the variables of gender, class level, and level; no significant difference was observed in the variables of school type, parental relationship status and family structure. In the sub-dimensions of social skills; no significant difference was observed according to the variables of class, parental relationship and family structure. A significant relationship was found between family relations sub-dimensions and social skills sub-dimensions. It was concluded that the sub-dimensions of family relations explained approximately 30% of the total variance regarding the social skills scale.
