Abstract:

The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable scale that can be used to measure the tendencies of lying of high school students. The research work group consists of 391 students who continue to study in the classes 6, 7 and 8 of a secondary school located in Gaziantep Şahinbey district in the 2017-2018 educational year.  In the scale development study, Lawshe’s scale validity ratio (KGO) and scale validity index (KGI) were used for scale validity analysis and verifying factor analysis for structural validity. Measurement validity study was carried out, scale substances material total and substance remaining correlations were analyzed, Cronbach Alfa reliability ratio was calculated. The study found that the scale consisting of 23 matters and 2 factors (social causes-related lies, emotional causes-related lies) which explained 43% of the variance; the two-dimensional structure of 23 matters in the verifying factor analysis resulted (x2/sd=2.44, RMSEA=.056, SRMR=.045, TLI=.90, CFI=.91). The validity value of the measurement is r=.31 (p<01). The Cronbach Alfa reliability ratio is .89 for the social causes-related lie factor and .84 for the emotional causes-related lie factor and the calculated figure for the entire scale is .91. The test-re-test reliability ratio obtained as a result of the application of the scale to 68 students between two weeks is r=.77 (p<.000) for the lower size of social causes-related lies, and r=.56 (p<) for the lower size of emotional causes-related lies. 000) is found as r=.79 (p<.000) for the total scale point. The analysis has shown that the scale of lies tendencies has acceptable validity and reliability values within the limits of this study.
