Bu araştırmanın amacı, meslek yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin dil öğrenme stratejileri ve yabancı dile yönelik kalıplaşmış düşüncelerinin çeşitli değişkenler bağlamında incelemektir. Araştırma ilişkisel tarama modelinde desenlenmiştir. Araştırmanın evrenini, 2016-2017 eğitim öğretim yılı güz döneminde bir devlet üniversitesinde öğrenim gören 1759 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini ise, bu evrenden rastgele seçilen toplam 552 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma verileri, “Dil Öğrenme Stratejileri Ölçeği” ve “Yabancı Dile Yönelik Kalıplaşmış Düşünce Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin analizinde, bağımsız gruplar t-testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA), Tukey anlamlılık testi ve Pearson korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda katılımcıların dil öğrenme stratejilerinin ve yabancı dile yönelik kalıplaşmış düşüncelerinin ortalama değer aralığında olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, meslek yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin dil öğrenme stratejileri arasında öğrenim görülen bölüm, İngilizce kursuna katılma ve İngilizce ders başarısına göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark tespit edilirken, cinsiyet ve mezun olunan lise türü değişkenlerine göre anlamlı fark olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra, cinsiyete ve İngilizce kursuna katılma durumuna göre meslek yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin yabancı dile yönelik kalıplaşmış düşünceleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunurken, mezun olunan lise türü, öğrenim görülen bölüm ve İngilizce ders başarısına göre farklılaşmadığı belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin dil öğrenme stratejileri ve yabancı dile yönelik kalıplaşmış düşünceleri arasında, orta düzeyde, doğrusal ve ters yönde anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
The purpose of this research is to study the vocational college students’ language learning strategies and the various variables of their shaped ideas towards foreign languages. The research is modeled in the relational scan model. The universe of research consists of 1759 students who study at a state university during the 2016-2017 academic year. The study included a total of 552 randomly selected students from this universe. The research data was collected using "The Scale of Language Learning Strategies" and "The Scale of Foreign Language Oriented Thought". In the analysis of the research data, independent groups used t-test, one-way variance analysis (ANOVA), Tukey meaning test and Pearson correlation analysis. The research finds that the participants’ language learning strategies and modeled ideas about foreign languages are in the average value range. Furthermore, it has been determined that there are no significant differences according to the variables of gender and type of high school graduated, while the study of the language learning strategies of the department is statistically significantly determined according to the participation in the English language course and the English language course success. In addition, it has been determined that there is statistically meaningful difference between the modeled ideas of vocational college students about foreign languages, depending on the gender and the case of participation in the English language course, while it has been determined that it does not differ according to the type of high school graduated, the part studied and the success of the English language course. It has been concluded that there is a meaningful relationship between students’ language learning strategies and their shaped ideas towards a foreign language at the middle level, linear and reverse.
