Abstract:

In the university years that cover the adulthood period It is a phenomenon that individuals need to build close relationships as a reason for development. According to the study, one of the topics of applying students to the university’s psychological consultancy units is the problems of close relationships that they experience. Relationship satisfaction has a significant contribution to the sustainability of close relationships, and it is therefore very important to know the factors that affect the relationship satisfaction. In this study, it is determined whether the satisfaction they experience in their close relationships is based on the body and self-perception, relationships beliefs and interpersonal skill variables. 342 university students who are studying and having a romantic relationship at the University of Ege are the sample of the research. In the study, the measurement tools were the Relationship Stability Scale, the Interpersonal Capacity Scale, the Body Perception Scale, the Relationship Faith Scale, the Social Comparison Scale and the Personal Information Form. Multi-vertical Regression Analysis is used in the analysis of data. According to the regression results, the relationship beliefs of university students and "we must be open and honest with each other" and "romantic idealism" are a positive relation with the level of satisfaction that university students perceive in their close relationships. The student’s self-perception in the relations of the student’s satisfaction has been found as a meaningful contributor. Relationship beliefs "we must be able to change each other" and "we must meet all our needs" treat the relationship satisfactions of university students in a negative direction. Interpersonal abilities and body perception variables show the relationship satisfaction of adults in a meaningful manner.
