Abstract:

In the Ottoman society, many rituals have been held and implemented in the traditional and modern sense. From a social point of view, children are an important element of these rituals, and birth has been the beginning of these rituals. In the birth rituals in the traditional sense Pre-birth preparations, Birth and After Birth and Applications, Birth in the Palace and Applications, the renewal and change process in the Ottoman State affects the birth rituals by showing the effects on these practices, the norms, the benefits, the educational practices, the public and the state’s perspective on the child, as well as the important information in terms of the socio-economic and cultural situation of the period. Based on first-hand resources in this study, the importance of birth rituals and the perspective of the child in the Ottoman State has been assessed with all aspects.
