Abstract:

The aim of this study is to reveal the perceptions of students about the concepts of school and school manager through metaphors. In this study designed as a quality, a phenomenological model was used. The study group consists of 229 students identified by the easy-to-accessed case sampling technique. In the analysis of data, content analysis is used. According to the results of the research, 69 metaphors produced about the school concept, in 10 categories; 76 metaphors about the school manager concept, in 10 categories. It has been seen that students most often use brain, commander and father metaphors for the concept of family, house and tree for the concept of school manager. From the categories created taking into account the common characteristics of the metaphors, it has been determined that the most metaphors are produced in the categories of reliable environment for the school concept and information-providing environment, the management focus for the school manager and the categories of guidelines/roads indicators.
