Abstract:

The aim of this study is to identify the concerns arising in the process of developing listening skills for Syrian students who learn Turkish as a foreign language. In order to identify the levels of anxiety towards the listening skills of the Syrian students who learn Turkish as a foreign language, the "External Language Hearing Anxiety Measurement" developed by Polat and Erişti (2018) has been used as a quantum data collection tool. The data used in the analysis of the quantitative data of this research conducted in the scan model is analyzed in SPSS 21 (Statistical Program for Social Sciences). In the quality size of the study, the semi-configured interview form developed by the researcher and the opinions of students about listening concerns were taken, the data obtained after the interview was subject to content analysis. The examples of the study are formed by 118 Syrian students in the B2 course learning Turkish in Kilis 7 December University, TOMER (Turkish and Foreign Languages Applied and Research Center). 10 students have been selected to obtain qualifying data, depending on the essence of volunteering. The study has concluded that the sexual characteristics of the Syrian students who learn Turkish as a foreign language are a factor that affects the listening concern; the age, the resident settlement unit and the variables are not a factor that affects the listening concern. It has been found that they have not been able to follow the rested, the lack of sight of the number of text listening, the rapid and poor sound quality of the listening texts, the causes of listening concerns.
