Abstract:

Students studying at the Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Nursing are intended to evaluate nomofobia by studying the factor structure of NMP-Q. The universe of the research carried out in a defining quality was formed by a university’s nursing department and medical faculty students (N=1735). The sample was not selected, 846 students who agreed to participate in the study were included in the study. The data of the study was collected through the survey form and the Nomofobia Scale. In the analysis of data, numbers, percentage distribution, average, standard deviation, Ki-Kare t test, one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) were used. The average age of students is 21.2±2.3 (Max = 38; Min = 17), and they have an average level of nomofobia (78.7 ± 24.6). We observed that women in the age group of 17-21 and nursing students at the Nomofobia scale lower scale scales were significantly high (p<0,05).  In addition, the Nomofobia scale found that the average scale of the lower size was significantly high in students carrying the charging device, checking a cell phone 49 times a day and using a cell phone for more than 5 hours (p<0,05).  Students have an average nomofobia. Mobile phones affect both the positive and negative aspects of students’ education and daily life. Nomofobia needs to work more on how it affects students’ lives and health, especially their health and communication dimensions.
