Abstract:

With the increasing importance given to the concept of value, studies in this field have increased especially in recent years. The studies carried out to convey values can generally be defined as values education. Today, various methods and tools are used to transfer values. One of these tools is movies that can easily reach large audiences. Animation films, on the other hand, are especially important because the audience they address is children. This study was prepared to examine the films Kral Şakir Korsanlar Diyarı and Rafadan Tayfa Göbeklitepe, which were released in 2019, in the context of values education. The research was carried out by the qualitative research method, and the document analysis method was used to collect the data. The criterion sampling method, which is one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used in the selection of data sources. The research data were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. It was concluded that positive value elements are more than negative value elements in the films examined in the study. The values of solidarity, helpfulness, sensitivity, and responsibility are the most conveyed positive values in films. On the other hand, the values of respect, honesty, and responsibility are the most conveyed negative values. Although the positive value elements are more than the negative ones in Kral Şakir Korsanlar Diyarı movie, the difference between them is close to each other. Therefore, it is thought inappropriate to use the film in the context of values education as a whole. But in Rafadan Tayfa Göbeklitepe movie, the positive value elements are much more than the negative value elements.
